GA Chapter 20
Our Chapter, organized January 2010 and chartered March 4, 2010, began as the brain storm of Joe, who saw the opportunity to get the local motorcycle riding firefighters together to help the community with charities as well as provide another venue for the already tight nit group to be able to socialize even more. After a quick poll it was evident that there was interest among personnel in the three local fire departments in the Glynn County area, City of Brunswick Fire Department, Glynn County Fire Department, and Jekyll Island Fire and Rescue Department.
The next challenge was to decide which club was the right fit, or were they going to blaze a new trail and form their own group. This group needed to be all inclusive and allow all fire department personnel as well as family members to be part of the organization. It needed to not be manufacturer specific, and tailored to a specific riding style or discipline. Our self imposed criteria greatly aided in the selection process and the group ultimately decided on becoming a Chapter of the Red Knights.
Once the decision was made to be a chapter of the Red Knights our group of 25 personnel organized our first meeting on January 20, 2010, with 14 perspective members present, to select the required officers and collect membership paperwork and dues. Once we had established the initial membership we applied for our Charter and received it on March 4, 2010.
Since forming our Chapter, based in Brunswick, Georgia, we have escorted a artifact from the World Trade Center to its final resting place at the Glynn County Fire Department Headquarters Station, Escorted the United States Flag from Savannah, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida as part of the Nation of Patriots annual Patriot Tour, raised money for the Golden Isles Emerald Society's 'Shop with a Firefighter' program, been involved with firefighter and military funerals and processions, helped raise money for injured firefighters and perform roadside pickup as needed along a section of Glynco Parkway.
Our Chapter continues to grow adding new members annually. Currently we have members serving and retired from the City of Brunswick Fire Department, Glynn County Fire Rescue, Jekyll Island Fire and Rescue, Nahunta Fire Department, and the Caterville Fire Department.
Any qualifying firefighter interested in joining should go to the MEMBERSHIP page and download the application. We welcome any firefighter, active or retired, that would like to share in the fellowship of the Chapter.
